About WMMS
At White Mountain Montessori School, we believe childhood is meant to be lived with a sense of wonder, purpose, and joy. Every child is born with a desire to explore, discover, and make sense of the world around them. Our role as educators is not only to teach, but to thoughtfully prepare an environment where each child feels safe, valued, capable, and inspired to learn.
As we serve Infants through kindergarten-aged children, we recognize that every stage of development is unique and deserving of respect. We honor each child’s individual pace, interests, and emerging independence while fostering confidence, compassion, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. Through carefully prepared environments, children are given the freedom to make meaningful choices, engage in purposeful work, and develop the skills necessary to become thoughtful, capable members of their community.
At the heart of our philosophy is the understanding that learning does not begin and end within our classroom walls. Nature is one of our greatest teachers.
Outdoor experiences are an essential part of every child’s education at White Mountain Montessori School, regardless of age or season. We believe children thrive when they have daily opportunities to move their bodies, engage their senses, take appropriate risks, solve problems, and develop a deep relationship with the natural world. Whether infants are feeling the breeze on their faces, toddlers are splashing in puddles, preschoolers are building forts from fallen branches, or kindergarteners are observing seasonal changes, every outdoor experience offers meaningful opportunities for growth.
Our commitment to outdoor education means that children spend time outside every day whenever it is safe to do so. We believe there is no such thing as bad weather; we can best support every child's learning by ensuring your child is sent with the proper clothing so they can be comfortable as they explore the outdoors.
Lastly, we strive to create a community where every child feels a true sense of belonging. We believe that children learn best when they know they are deeply loved, respected, and accepted for who they are. By partnering with families and nurturing the whole child, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, we lay the foundation for confident learners, kind hearts, and capable leaders.
At White Mountain Montessori School, we are not only preparing every child for the next stage of school. We are helping them build the character, independence, curiosity, and resilience they will carry with them throughout their lives.
